Identifikasi Ikan Hiu Genus Carcharhinus Secara Fenotipe Dan Genotipe Di Provinsi Kepulauan Riau
Sharks are predatory animals that live around coral reefs. This fish has slow growth and breeding limitations. Currently, its existence is increasingly threatened due to the large number of captures both as catch targets and bycatch which has resulted in a decrease in the shark population in the waters. This study was conducted from November 2024 to January 2025 in Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands Province. The purpose of this study was to determine the shark species landed and traded in the Riau Islands and their conservation status. This study used a survey method, where sampling and phenotype identification were carried out at the research site and continued with genotype analysis in the laboratory. The genotype analysis begins with several stages, namely extraction, amplification, electrophoresis, and sequencing. After identifying and knowing the name of the species, the next step is to determine the conservation status and international trade status. On the IUCN Red List, C. sorrah is categorized as near threatened (NT) and C. leucas is categorized as vulnerable (VU). Both species are included in Appendix II of the CITES international trade status.
Keywords: C. sorrah, C. leucas, genotype, phenotype, identification, conservation status.
