Pengaruh Variasi Penambahan Plasticizer Gliserol Dan Sorbitol Terhadap Karakteristik Bioplastik Dari Limbah Kulit Nanas
ABSTRACT
Synthetic plastics have caused many environmental problems, this is because
synthetic plastics are difficult to decompose and take a very long time to decompose.
Therefore, it is necessary to develop environmentally friendly plastics made from
biomass or often called bioplastics. This study aims to determine the effect of adding
glycerol and sorbitol plasticizers to the bioplastic characteristics of pineapple peel
waste through thickness, water resistance, biodegradability and tensile strength tests.
Making bioplastics is done by mixing pineapple peel starch, PA acetic acid, meizena
flour, aquades and PA glycerol which are stirred using a mechanical stirrer while
heated using a hot plate at 80ºC until thickened for 20 minutes. After that, the
bioplastic was molded and allowed to dry at room temperature for 5 days. Bioplastic
testing includes thickness test, water resistance test, biodegradability test and tensile
strength test, with each having maximum results, namely; the best thickness test was
found in the 2 ml sorbitol variation, which was 0.61 mm and the best water resistance
test was found in the 1 ml sorbitol variation, which was 71.14%, the best
biodegradability test was found in the 2 ml glycerol variation for 11 days with a
weight loss of 66, 66%, and the best tensile strength test was found in the 1 ml
sorbitol variation of 1.93 MPa. And the best elongation test was found in the
variation of sorbitol 3 ml, which was 19.2%. And according to the standard SNI
7188.7:2011, the results of the water resistance test have met the standard, namely a
maximum of 99%, the tensile strength test has not met the standard (24.7 – 30.2
MPa) and the elongation test has not met the standard, namely (21 – 220%).
According to the JIS-2-1-1707 standard, the thickness test results do not meet the
standard, namely (maximum 0.25 mm). And according to the ASTM D-6002
standard, the results of the biodegradable test have met the standard, namely
(maximum 60 days).
