THE INFLUENCE OF THE INTENSITY OF WATCHING KOREAN
DRAMAS ON INTEREST IN LEARNING KOREAN IN THE KOREAN
CULTURE CLUB PEKANBARU COMMUNITY.

Korean drama is one of the Korean Wave products that refer to television
dramas in Korea in a miniseries format and using the Korean language. The rapid
development of mass media in the current era of globalization provides easy access
to Korean dramas. Not only that, but mass media is also a medium of learning for
Korean drama lovers who intensely watch Korean dramas and are interested in
learning the Korean language. One of the Korean lover's communities is the
Korean Culture Club Pekanbaru community. The purpose of this study was
conducted to determine the effect of the intensity of watching Korean dramas on
interest in learning Korean at the Korean Culture Club Pekanbaru community.
This research uses quantitative research methods with a survey approach.
The data collection techniques used are questionnaires and documentation. Sample
withdrawal using census sampling technique with a total of 110 respondents. The
questionnaire was distributed in the form of google forms and the data analysis
technique used was simple linear regression and the coefficient of determination
(R2). The tool used to process the results of this study is the SPSS version 26
application.
The simple linear regression analysis results show the value Y = 22.492 +
0.983X with a constant (a) value of 22.492 and a variable coefficient X of 0.983.
While the t count of 6.329 is greater than t table 1.982 where H0 is rejected and Ha
is accepted with a significance of 0.05. So it can be concluded that there is an
influence between the intensity of watching Korean dramas on interest in learning
Korean in the Korean Culture Club Pekanbaru Community with a low category (in
the interval table 20% - 39.9%) with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 27.1%.
