Prarancangan Pabrik Asam Palmitat Dari Cpo Dengan Desain Alat Utama Kolom Distilasi Asam Palmitat (T-101)
ABSTRACT
Palmitic acid is a saturated fatty acid composed of 16 carbon atoms with the molecular formula CH3(CH2)14COOH. In the current industrial era, palmitic acid has an important role and is widely used in the fields of cosmetics and coloring. The main raw materials used in making palmitic acid using this hydrolysis process are CPO and water. This factory is planned to operate for 330 days per year and work continuously 24 hours/day with a capacity of 80,000 tons/year which will be established in Tanah Putih District, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau. The company form chosen is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organizational system. The employee work system is based on the division of working hours consisting of shift and non-shift employees. The main equipment design in this factory is a Distillation Column (T-103) which functions to purify palmitic acid so that palmitic acid is obtained with a high purity, namely 98%. This Distillation Column (T-101) is operated at a pressure of 0.06 atm and a temperature of 252.11⁰C and is equipped with a condenser and reboiler. Economic analysis in the design of this factory shows that this factory is feasible to be established with a Break Event Point (BEP) value in the 5th year with a production BEP of 26%, Pay Back Period (PBP) of 4,725 years, Rate of Investment (ROI) of 22.163%, and Interest Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.728%.
