Sintesis Kalkon Inti Naftalen Dari Asetilnaftalen Dengan 4-Bromobenzaldehid Dan Uji Aktivitasnya Sebagai Antibakteri
Two chalcones (E)-3-(4-Bromo-phenyl)-1-naphthalen-1-yl-propenone (RI1) and (E)-3-(4-Bromo-phenyl)-1-naphthalen-2-yl-propenone (RI2) were synthesized by the stirring in Claisen-Schmidt Condensation with NaOH as the catalyst. The structure of the compounds was confirmed by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, IR, MS and UV spectroscopy methods. RI1 and RI2 obtained were in 81.9% and 57.4% yields respectively. The synthesized compounds were evaluated for their antibacterial activity by agar diffusion method against Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis (Gram-positive bacteria), Escherichia coli and Salmonella enteritidis (Gram-negative bacteria). Both compounds exhibited weak activity against Escherichia coli with 6.1 – 6.4 mm of inhibition zone and no activity against bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella Enteritidis and Bacillus subtilis.
