Analisis Hubungan Peningkatan Nilai Interleukin-6 (IL-6) Dengan Prosedur Bronkoskopi di Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau
Background: Flexible bronchoscopy (FB) is a minimally invasive procedure for direct visualization of the tracheobronchial tree to diagnose and manage pulmonary and airway diseases. Interleukin-6 (IL-6) acts as a major pro-inflammatory mediator for the induction of acute phase responses, causing various local and systemic changes, including fever, leukocyte recruitment, cytokine activation and eliciting hemodynamic effects. Considering the role of IL-6 in mediating the acute phase response, its value as a prognostic biomarker in sepsis and various acute organ injuries has been extensively investigated in various clinical and experimental studies. Plasma and/or bronchoalveolar IL-6 levels have been identified as early biomarkers of lung injury.
Methods: This study was a cross-sectional analytic study conducted at Arifin Achmad Hospital from January 2024 to June 2024 on patients who underwent diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy procedures performed at Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province. A total of 82 bronchoscopy patients who met the inclusion criteria were examined for IL-6 values 12 hours before bronchoscopy and 6 hours after bronchoscopy using the Roche Cobas device. Then it was assessed whether there was an association between increased Interleukin-6 (IL-6) values and bronchoscopy procedures at Arifin Achmad Regional General Hospital, Riau Province.
Results: Based on the results of this study, the analysis of the relationship between increased Interleukin-6 (IL-6) values and bronchoscopy procedures at Arifin Achmad Regional General Hospital Riau Province has no significant difference. The relationship between increased IL-6 values and bronchoscopy complications in patients at the AA Regional General Hospital of Riau Province is statistically significant.
