The present research sought to investigate the effect of education and training level and tenure of Regional Working Unit Spending Treasurers on the quality of local financial statements in Riau Province. The data were collected with a census method by distributing questionnaires to the spending treasures at 39 regional working units. The questionnaires were sent to 39 spend-ing treasurers. There were 39 questionnaires which were returned and could be further processed. The data were analyzed using a multi level linear regression method.
The results show that education level of the spending treasurers had no significant effect on the quality of local financial statements. Conversely, the training level of the spending treasurers had a significant effect on the quality of the local financial statements. The tenure of the spend-ing treasurers had an insignificant effect on the quality of the local financial statements.
