Kombinasi Semen Portland Dan Abu Batu Apung Sebagai Filler Pada Campuran Asphalt Concrete - Wearing Course (Ac-Wc)
Universitas Riau
ABSTRACT
One of the road pavement layer mixture type that is commonly used in Indonesia is
the Asphalt Concrete Wearing Course (AC-WC) mixture. AC-WC is located at the
top layer on the pavement of the highway which is structurally holding and
spreading the load of wheels, waterproofing layers along with wear layers. AC-WC
is a mixture of asphalt, coarse aggregates, fine aggregates and fillers. Fillers
commonly used in AC-WC are Portland cement, but cement production has an
ecological threat with the process of burning limestone at a temperature of 1,300 °
C – 1,350 ° C that will release CO2 gas into the air. In this study, an alternative
was done to suppress the use of cement by replacing some cement fillers using
pumice waste that was used as pumice ash. Pumice waste is the result of the process
of spriting unused pumice anymore because it is less than the packing requirement
to be marketed (the aggregate size of pumice waste is less than 10 mm). The purpose
of the study was to determine the combined effect of Portland cement filler and
pumice ash as an AC-WC asphalt mixture by analyzing Marshall's characteristic
values consisting of stability, flow, VMA, VIM, VFA, and MQ. The ratio of pumice
ash and cement in this study was 0:100, 25:75, 50:50, 75:25, and 100:0. After
getting the optimum asphalt level value for each variation of filler, the Marshall
test was then carried out to get its characteristic value. Test results showed that the
highest stability value was in the variation of 25:75 with 887.04 kg and the lowest
VIM value was in the variation of 50:50 with 4,120%. This research refers to the
General Specification of Bina Marga 2018 Revision 2.
