Preparasi Nanopartikel Oksida Besi Pasir Alam Logas Didoping Nikel Menggunakan Metoda Ball Milling
Research on the structural, crystallinity properties and magnetic
susceptibility of iron oxide nanoparticles of natural sand Logas, Kuantan Singingi
Regency, Riau Province has been carried out. First, the samples were processed
using Iron Sand Separator (ISS) in order to separate between iron and other oxides
and followed by Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) magnet process, the result is
called a NdFeB product. The NdFeB product was milled for 3 hours and 15 hours
consequtively with ball diameter of 1,5 cm as many as 18 balls and the product
was processed again using NdFeB magnets, the product is called BM 1 dan BM 2,
respectively. BM 2 product was milled again for another 102 hours with ball
combination (1,5 cm and 0,5 cm) as many as 18 balls and 50 balls, respectively.
The result is called BM 3 product. BM 3 product was divided into 5 parts, then each
part was doped with Ni (Nickel) as a function of weight concentration using ball
milling for 20 hours with diameter parameters the same milling ball, the result is
called nanoparticle (Fe2O3)100-xNix where x = 0; 5; 10; 15; and 20 (wt.%). Magnetic
susceptibility was calculated based on the value of the solenoid magnetic induction
(B0) and the total magnetic induction of the solenoid (BT) using Pasco PS-2162
magnetic probe as a function of electric current (200 mA; 400 mA; 600 mA;
800mA). The results showed that the susceptibility value of the samples increased
with increasing nickel concentration. Crystal size and element identification were
determined by X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF),
respectively. The results show that BM 4 products contain a hematite phase (α-
Fe2O3) having a Rhombohedral structure. The cryatalline size reduces as nickel
concentration increases. Prior to doping, the Fe element experienced a
concentration of 55.038%, while after doping with a composition of 5 wt.% Ni the
concentration decreased and the remaining 48,209%. Other elements such as Ti,
Al, Si, Ag, Zn, Mn, Cr also decreased.
