Preparasi Nanopartikel Α-Fe2o3 (Hematite) Dari Pasir Alam Logas Di-Doping Tembaga Dengan Menggunakan Metode Ball Milling
The crystallinity and morphology of iron oxide nanoparticles of natural sand from
Logas Village, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province prepared using ball
milling method were studied. First, the sand was processed using Irond Sand
Separator (ISS) and followed by NdFeB magnet in order to separated between iron
and non iron oxide particles. The product of NdFeB was milled using ball milling
for 3 stages and the final result is called BM3 product. The BM3 product was
divided into 5 parts with the same amount of weight and each of them was doped
using copper with a concentration of 0 wt.%, 5 wt.%, 10 wt.%, 15 wt.% and 20
wt.% then the result is called BM4A, BM4B, BM4C, BM4D and BM4E,
respectively. The BM4A, BM4B and BM4C products were selected to be
characterized using X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD) and Scanning Electron
Microscope (SEM). Magnetic susceptibility of the samples were determined based
on magnetic induction values measured using pasco type probe. The results showed
that the susceptibility decreases with increasing doping concentration. The results
of XRD analysis of BM4 products contain a hematite phase (Fe2O3) which has a
rhombohedral structure. Crystallite size of the samples was calcuated using the
scherrer Equation where the average crystalllite size decreases namely 28,88163
nm, 27,38925 nm and 27,07863 nm with increasing doping concentration of 0 wt.%,
5 wt.% and 10 wt.%, respectively. The results of SEM analysis show that the
particle size varies from 78 nm, 71 nm and 67 nm with increasing copper
concentration from 0 wt.%, 5 wt.% and 10 wt.%, respectively.
