Sejarah Transportasi: Moda Transportasi Trans Metro Pekanbaru (TMP) Dan Pengaruhnya Terhadap Perkembangan Kota Pekanbaru Tahun 2007-2017
As a developing country, Indonesia is categorized as a country with an
increasingly high population density. One of the effects of population growth also
has an impact on increasing community mobilization, the effect of this increase is
most felt for people in urban areas. Mobility is closely related to means of transportation.
Transportation that is effective, efficient, fast, safe, and economical in
order to increase the mobility and accessibility of the community is the desire of
the entire population. This study discusses the relationship between the Trans
Metro Pekanbaru mode of transportation and its influence on the development of
Pekanbaru. The purpose of this research is to find out: 1). the background of the
birth of the Trans Metro Pekanbaru (TMP) transportation mode in Pekanbaru. 2).
How is Trans Metro Pekanbaru (TMP) service in 2007-2017. 3). Constraints
faced by Trans Metro Pekanbaru (TMP) 2007-2017. 4). The influence of Trans
Metro Pekanbaru (TMP) on the development of Pekanbaru City in 2007-2017.
The author in this study uses historical research methods, where there are four
stages of research, namely the first Heuristic stage, the second Verification stage,
the third Interpretation, and the fourth Historiography. The results of this study
are the beginning of the birth of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in the city of
Pekanbaru. This system is run with the Trans Metro Pekanbaru Bus as a mode of
transportation. With TMP, it is hoped that it will emerge as a solution to solve
existing transportation problems and as a form of improving the quality of services
to the people of Pekanbaru city. Constraints and problems encountered by
TMP while operating. The role of TMP in the development of Pekanbaru City is
as an icon of the future city of Pekanbaru and the rejuvenation of urban transportation
as a manifestation of the modernization of mass transportation in the city of
Pekanbaru.
