Efektivitas Pengawetan Kayu Sengon (Paraserianthes Falcataria) Menggunakan Ekstrak Biji Mahoni Dengan Metode Rendaman Dingin Terhadap Serangan Rayap Tanah
ABSTRACT
Sengon is a type of woody plant that has high economic value and is in great demand but has a low durable class so that it cannot be used for a long time. Sengon is a woody plant that has a high enough cellulose content of 41.14% so that sengon wood is susceptible to termite attacks. Preservation of wood is one way to increase the service life and maintain the quality of the wood so that it is not attacked by destructive factors and can increase the strength of the wood. Mahogany seeds can be used as natural wood preservatives because they contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, saponins and alkaloids in it. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the effectiveness of mahogany seed extract as a preservative for sengon wood against subterranean termites and determine the best concentration of mahogany seed extract as a preservative against subterranean termites. This study used a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 10 replications. The value of the moisture content of sengon wood obtained in this study ranged from 25.71-24.05%, for retention of preservatives the value was 3.49-5.90% g/cm3, the weight loss of bait was 24.7-4.19% and for mortality the value was 19.85-41.60%. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of mahogany seed extract as a wood preservative against subterranean termites andthe best concentration of mahogany seed extract as a wood preservative against subterranean termites.
