An Analysis Of The Studets Ability In Writing Summary Through Listening To Story At English Study Program Fkip-Unri
speaking. In listening students often get difficulties to catch what they listen whether it is from native speaker or not in doing listening activities. To increase the listening ability, the students should practice effective listening activities and other subject that is able to influence the skill. The students should apply some ways to motivate themselves in order to improve their ability in listening the students have to listen the song English by tape recorder and watching the English movie by the television. There are many characters for make a good summary, such as brief, accurate, comprehensive, and neutral.
The problems of this research are to confirm whether the students ability in writing summary through listening to story at English study program FKIP-UNRI good or bad. The population of this research is the fourth year students of FKIP-UNRI. The number of population is 114 students for three classes (A, B, and C). The researcher takes sample randomly of the fourth year students of FKIP-UR. So, the number of sample is 30 students.
After making analysis from the data obtained the writer concluded ability of the fourth year student’s ability in writing summary through listening to story is classified into medium level or good level with the average score is 78.8 point. It means that the half of the students who become the respondents of this research still be able to writing summary through listening to story. The highest presentation achieved by the respondents was excellent classification. From this the writer can concluded that more than half of respondents still be able to writing summary through listening to story generally.
