The productivity of upland rice in Riau province is relatively low compared to the national productivity of 3.3 tons.ha-1, because it is generally grown on sub-optimal land, especially Ultisol land. The study aimed to study and obtain the interaction of N, P and K fertilizer with synthetic zeolite on the growth and yield of upland rice (Oryza sativa L.) highest in Ultisol medium. The research was in the form of experiments used factorial designs arranged according to a complete randomized design. The first factor was a N, P and K fertilizer consisting of 3 levels (0; 100 kg N, 50 kg P2O5, and 50 kg K2O per ha; and 150 kg N, 100 kg P2O5 and 100 kg K2O per ha) and synthetic zeolite (ZS) as the second factor consisting of 4 levels (0, 100, 150 and 200 kg per ha) each combination repeated 3 times. The results showed that the application of fertilizers at doses of 150 kg N, 100 kg of P2O5 and 100 kg of K2O per ha with synthetic zeolite doses of 200 kg.ha-1 increased plant height, the amount of pithy grain per panicle, the weight of dry milled grain per panicle, and the harvest index. While the application of fertilizers doses of 150 kg N, 100 kg of P2O5 and 100 kg of K2O per ha without synthetic zeolite increased the maximum tillering and productive tillering of upland rice.
