Struktur Komunitas Diatom Epipelik Secara Vertikal Di Zona Intertidal Kawasan Perairan Kota Dumai Barat, Provinsi Riau

ABSTRACT This research was conducted in March 2022 located in the Waters of West Dumai City. The study was aimed to examine community structure of the epipelic diatom vertically between stations. The method used in this research was survey method. Epipelic diatom samples were taken using a modified corer, then taken to the laboratory to be identified and the community structure calculated and sediment samples were calculated for the content of nitrate, phosphate, organic matter and sediment fraction. Sampling is accompanied by measurements of water quality consisting of brightness, temperature, current velocity, salinity and pH. Found 21 genera of epipelic diatoms in the waters of West Dumai City with an abundance value of 9.784 – 32.739 ind/cm2. The average value of the diversity index obtained is 2.6460 – 3.2065, the dominance index is 0.1478 – 0.2423, while the uniformity index is 0.7952 – 0.8424. The results of the one way Anova test obtained an average value of 0.001, meaning that there was significant difference in epipelic diatom abundance between layers of sediment.
