Kaji Eksperimental Pembangkit Listrik Panel Surya Dengan Termoelektrik Generator
ABSTRACT
The development of renewable and environmentally friendly alternative energy needs to be carried out in order to fulfill energy needs and the survival of plants, animals and humans. One of the energy sources that can be used to meet these needs is solar energy. In solar panels, the heat generated from solar radiation is utilized through photovoltaic to generate electricity. Unfortunately, the waste heat generated by solar panels is not utilized, so the heat energy generated due to solar radiation will reduce the efficiency of the solar panels themselves. This study aims to observe the potential utilization of Thermoelectric generators (TEG) in increasing the output voltage of solar panels. This study also aims to observe the effect of adding metal plates and the angle of inclination of the module to the total TEG voltage produced. The research was conducted with three methods. Testing in the first method only uses solar panels, while the second method by installing several TEG modules at the bottom of the solar panel module and the third method by installing a metal plate between the solar panel module and the TEG module. Each test method is carried out by varying the angle of inclination on the solar panel module to see the effect of the angle on efficiency and to obtain maximum efficiency in the test. From the test results, it can be seen that the test with an angle of 15⁰ gives a higher value of power and efficiency of solar panels compared to an angle of 30⁰. The average total intensity of solar radiation for 6 days is 661.45 W/m2. The greatest value of solar radiation occurs on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 12:00 PM, which is 1123 W/m2. The highest value of solar panel power occurs on Monday, May 23, 2022 at 12:00 PM on module 3 with an angle of 15⁰ which is 5.62 W. While the highest value of solar panel efficiency occurs on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 9:00 AM on module 3 with an angle of 30⁰ which is 13.02%. The average value of the thermoelectric power in module 2 and module 3 for 6 days is 1.793 mW and 9.087 mW, respectively. The highest value of thermoelectric power occurred on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 12:00 PM in module 3 with an angle of 30⁰ which is 35.63 mW. The average value of the thermoelectric efficiency in module 2 and module 3 for 6 days was 0.075% and 0.2%, respectively. The highest thermoelectric power value occurred on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 10:00 AM in module 3 with an angle of 30⁰, which is 0.526%. Keywords: thermoelectric generator, solar panels, hybrid system, solar energy.
