An Analysis Of Indonesian – English Code-Mixing In Magazines
This study aims to determine the types and reasons for code-mixing in magazines which are analyzed using documentation study techniques. This study uses data from 2 different types of print magazines, Kebaya magazine from vol. 086, vol. 087, and vol. 088, and Gogirl! Magazines from vol. 152, vol. 152, and vol. 154. There are three types of code-mixing: intra-sentential, intra-lexical, and code-mixing, which involve a change in pronunciation, and seven reasons for code-mixing namely talking about a particular topic, citing others, being empathetic about something, interjection, repetition used for clarification, intent clarify the content of the interlocutor's speech and reveal the identity of the group. This study also uses descriptive qualitative research design and content analysis as research methods. The results of this study only found two types of code-mixing, namely intra-sentential code-mixing and intra-lexical code-mixing. For the reasons of code-mixing, there are only two: discussing a particular topic and intending to clarify the content of the other person's speech
