Pengaruh Lama Penyulingan Terhadap Rendemen Dan Mutu Minyak Nilam Menggunakan Metode Uap Dan Air
ABSTRACT
Patchouli oil can be obtained by distillation. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of distillation time on the yield and quality of patchouli oil using steam and water methods. This research is experimental using steam and water distillation methods. The treatments in this study were W1 (distillation time 4 hours), W2 (distillation time 6 hours), W3 (distillation time 8 hours), W4 (distillation time 10 hours). Complete randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replications so that 16 experimental units are obtained. Data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and differences between treatments were analyzed using Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The parameters observed were yield, color, specific index, refractive index, acid number, and patchouli alcohol. From the results of the research, it can be seen that distillation time has a significant effect on yield, specific index, refractive index, and acid number. Selected treatments from this research are W4 (Distillation time 10 hours) which produces patchouli oil that looks yellow-brown, 2.23% of yield, 0.973 specific index, 1.514 refractive index, 0.5439 acid number, and 36.68% of patchouli alcohol.
