Pemanfaatan Arang Sabut Buah Pinang Dan Arang Cangkang Kelapa Sawit Sebagai Bahan Baku Briket
ABSTRACT
Areca coir charcoal and palm shells charcoal are biomass waste that can be utilized as an alternative energy source in the form of charcoal briquettes as a substitute of fossil fuels because they contain lignin and cellulose. This research aims to get the best ratio of areca coir charcoal and palm shell charcoal briquettes, referring to SNI No. 01-6235-2000. The research was implemented experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD), consisting of five treatments and three replications, resulting in 15 experimental units. The treatments in this study were the ratios of areca coir charcoal and palm shell charcoal in P1 (90:10), P2 (80:20), P3 (70:30), P4 (60:40), and P5 (50:50), with parameters tested in the form of moisture content, ash content, volatile matter content, bound carbon content, and calorific value. Data were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and continued with the Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% level. The results of this research showed that the best treatment is P5 = areca coir charcoal and palm shell charcoal (50:50), which had a moisture content of 5.92%, an ash content of 5.18%, a volatile matter content of 8.85%, a bound carbon content of 80.03%, and a calorific value of 6,684.30 cal/g.
Keywords: briquettes, areca coir charcoal, palm shell charcoal, analysis of variance, DNMRT.
