Kaji Eksperimental Pengaruh Campuran Pao Dan Rbdpo Terhadap Laju Keausan Dan Koefisien Gesek Pada Wet Contact Disc On Disc Pada Temperatur Tinggi
ABSTRACT
Tribology is the science that deals with friction, wear and lubrication on surfaces in the relative motion of objects. In machining mechanical contact is unavoidable regarding friction and wear. Mechanical contact that occurs will result in wear and tear between the two surfaces of the elements that touch and move. Friction is the loss of energy due to the occurrence of two objects that touch each other and if friction occurs continuously on the surface of the material it will cause erosion on the surface of the material which is called wear (wear). Lubricant is a solution to reduce friction and wear. Lubricants made from mineral oil and synthetic oil cannot be renewed. Lubricants from bio-based materials can be renewed, one example is palm oil. Palm oil has a weakness at high working temperatures, so in this test the lubricant RBD palm olein and synthetic oil was used to see the comparison of the lubricant tested using a disc-on-disc tribometer. The use of lubricants made from mineral oil and synthetic oil has a bad impact on the environment because they contain toxins and are not easily degraded. This study used vegetable oil as the basic ingredient and mixed with poly alpha olefin (PAO as an additive. The reason for choosing PAO as a palm oil additive is because PAO has greater consistency in the molecule and distribution of molecular mass which results in consistent lubricating properties. This test was carried out at high temperatures because vegetable oil has a weakness when used at high temperatures. The author wants to see after adding PAO to vegetable oil whether it can overcome these weaknesses.
