Efek Ekstrak Etanol Buah Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria Macrocarpa (Scheff) Boerl.) Terhadap Struktur Limpa Tikus Diinduksi Aloksan
Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff) Boerl.) is one type of plant that is used as an ingredient in traditional medicine. The secondary metabolite content of Mahkota Dewa fruit can prevent free radicals. The spleen is an organ that plays a role in the body's immune system. Mahkota Dewa fruit contains antioxidant compounds that can improve the immune system. The purpose of the study was the effectiveness of ethanol extract of Mahkota Dewa fruit on the spleen structure of rats induced by alloxan. This study used a completely randomized design. Samples were divided into 4 treatments, namely positive control, negative control, ethanol extract of Mahkota Dewa fruit at a dose of 160 mg/1 ml (P1) and a dose of 320 mg/1 ml (P2) for 14 days. Histological preparation with paraffin method and Hematoxylin-Eosin staining. The results of the study were P1 and P2 showed normal spleen which is dark red, shoe-shaped, smooth and flat surface, and spongy texture. The treatment of P1 and P2 did not significantly affect the body weight, weight, length, and width of the spleen of white rats. P1 treatment was not significantly different from the positive control because the content of secondary metabolites of ethanol extract of Mahkota Dewa fruit can repair spleen cells. The conclusion of the study showed that the spleen structure of white rats in the negative control and P2 treatments experienced widening of the diameter of the white pulp due to an increase in the body's immune system.
