ABSTRACT

A building must consider the reliability of the fire protection system in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Public Works No. 26 of 2008. The Integrated Laboratory (IL) building of Riau University is an educational building with complete research facilities that aims to be a place for science practice and high level research. Therefore, it is important to implement a reliable fire protection system to protect occupants and sensitive equipment. This study aims to analyze and determine the level of reliability of the Integrated Laboratory (IL) Building, so that when the building operates the level of risk of fire can be minimized. This research uses the Checklist method. The checklist method is done by comparing the system installed in the Integrated Laboratory Building with the provisions of the Minister of Public Works Regulation No. 26 of 2008 and the Research and Development Center for Settlements of the Department of Public Works (PD-T-11-2005-C). The results obtained from the checklist method are in the form of weighting values where the value obtained has the level of each building reliability. Building reliability level has a range of values, namely if ≤60% then it is declared less, if >60% and ≤80% then it is declared sufficient, and if >80% to ≤100% is declared reliable. The reliability value of the Integrated Laboratory Building with the Checklist method obtained a value that is the completeness of the site with 4 indicators has been met 100% with a weight obtained 25%, environmental roads with 2 indicators have been met 100% with a weight obtained 22.4%, passive protection systems with 3 indicators have been met 90% with a weight obtained 23.50% and active protection systems with 10 indicators have been met 93.75% with a weight obtained 18.93%. So that from the overall results the weight obtained is 89.83% and from this value it is included in the “Reliable” range.
