PENENTUAN DAYA JERAP DAN EFEKTIVITAS ADSORPSI ION LOGAM Pb2+ MENGGUNAKAN ADSORBEN AMPAS TEBU (Saccharum Officinarum L) TERAKTIVASI ASAM NITRAT
The development of industry has had a positive influence in the form of increasing
the national economy, but has had a negative effect, namely heavy metal waste
pollution. Pb2+ metal is a heavy metal that is considered a dangerous pollutant
because of its resistant nature and high toxicity to humans and the environment.
The maximum limit of lead ions Pb2+ permitted in environmental water based on
the Republic of Indonesia Minister of Health Regulation
NO.492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010 is 0.01 ppm. Sugarcane bagasse has a high
cellulose content so it can be used as a new alternative as an adsorbent. This
research studied the effect of contact time and mass of bagasse on the adsorption of
metal ions Pb2+with the parameters of adsorbent adsorption capacity and
effectiveness of the bagasse adsorbent. This research method begins with sample
preparation by delignification using 6% NaOH for 12 hours then activating using 1
M HNO3 for 60 minutes. The water content obtained was 14.1% with the –OH
group content of cellulose at a wavelength of 3160.50 cm-1. The adsorption process
uses sugarcane bagasse adsorbent with mass variations of 1; 2; and 3 grams with
contact times of 60; 90; and 120 minutes with a stirring speed of 100 rpm and a
metal ion adsorbate concentration Pb2+ of 10 ppm. The highest adsorption
effectiveness was found at a contact time of 120 minutes with a mass of 3 grams,
namely 89.54% and an adsorption capacity value of 0.0607 mg/gr.
Key words: Adsorption, adsorbate, adsorption capacity, effectiveness, bagasse
