Stroke-associated pneumonia (SAP) is a common complication proceeding stroke, contributing to increased mortality and morbidity rates. Stroke patients with complication are known to have a longer length of hospital stay. This study aims to identify the factors influencing to the extended hospital stay. A cross-sectional method was used, utilizing medical records of SAP patients at Arifin Achmad Hospital Regional Hospital, Riau Province, from July 2019 to June 2024. Out of total 102 samples, patients with SAP most frequently had a length of stay >14 days (53,9%) compared to ≤14 days (46,1%). Bivariate analysis did not find any statistically significant correlation between the length of stay and variables such as age (p = 0.368), gender (p = 0.990), stroke type (p = 0.089), type of SAP diagnosis (p = 1.000), initial GCS score (p = 0.071), and the presence of comorbidities (p = 0.360).
