Analisis Prioritas Restorasi Hidrologi Lahan Gambut Berdasarkan Kondisi Neraca Air di Provinsi Riau
Total area of Riau Province Peatlands is approximately 4.03 million hectares, which is equivalent to 56% of the total land area. Most of the peatlands have been heavily degraded due to land clearing and peat fires. Given the vast area of damaged peatlands, it is necessary to study how to determine the priority order. This study aims to analyze priority for peatland restoration in Riau Province peatland hydrological unit (PHU). The analysis was based on the water balance condition of the sub-PHU which was analyzed using MONALAGA water balance model.
Three important parameters used to calculate a priority score were the number of deficit months in a year, the number of consecutive deficit months in a year, and the cumulative decrease of water table in a year with weight 0.25, 0.35, and 0.4 respectively. The priority was divided into five level, such as very low, low, medium, high and very high priority which the priority score range were 3,15-4,43, 4,44-5,72, 5,73-7,01, 7,02-8,30, 8,31-9,60 respectively. Based on this method, we found that there are 2 sub PHUs that were categorized as very high priority level, 17 sub PHUs as high priority level. These Sub-PHUs are the main priority for peatland restoration in Riau Province.
