Understanding the dynamic load and structural response is necessary to improve the quality of buildings located in earthquake-prone areas. In this study, a transmission tower in Binjai was analyzed using the time history method. The structural response of the tower can be determined by full-scale testing and also using finite element software. Full-scale testing of large structures is time-consuming and costly, so an alternative is sought by testing scaled-down structures. Dynamic load testing is carried out using a vibrating table, while to design a scaled-down structure, using the similitude law method to ensure similarity between the full-scale structure and its scaled-down model. Comparison of the frequency response functions of the full-scale structure and its scaled-down model can verify the similarity between the two scales. This study uses a model made of reinforcing steel that has a size ratio of 1:40. The material used is steel reinforcement with a diameter of 2 mm. The connection between the rods uses welding. The reduced model was placed on a vibrating table, then the vibrating table moved the model using a frequency variation of 6.5 hz, 12.5 hz and 25 hz accompanied by the placement of sensors at 3 observation points. The experimental results of the vibrating table are entered into the finite element software, so that a comparison of numerical and experimental results is obtained. The largest displacement results are found at the top point of the tower. The displacement in laboratory testing has a smaller value than the results of the finite element software. The highest displacement difference between the results of the vibrating table and the software results is 4.811 mm.
