Pematahan Dormansi Benih Kemiri (Aleurites Moluccana Willd.) Dengan Perendaman Dalam Ekstrak Bawang Merah
The generative development of candlenut plants has obstacles because the seeds have a long dormancy. This research aims to obtain better information on the length of soaking candlenut seeds in shallot extract to accelerate the breaking of seed dormancy. This research was carried out in the Greenhouse and Plant Breeding Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University. This research was carried out from November 2023 to January 2024. The research was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) experiment with long soaking time for candlenut seeds in shallot extract, which consisted of 5 treatments, namely: A0 = GA3 for 48 hours, A1 = extract shallots for 24 hours, A2 = shallots extract for 48 hours, A3 = shallot extract for 72 hours, A4 = shallot extract for 96 hours. Each treatment was repeated four times, each experimental unit consisted of 25 seeds. The research results showed that soaking candlenut seeds in shallot extract for 96 hours was the best treatment. Shallot extract can increase germination capacity, vigor index, radicle length, plumule length, seed height and dry weight of candlenut seedlings.
