Sifat Kimia Tanah Dan Pertumbuhan Serta Produksi Jagung Manis (Zea Mays Saccharata Sturt.) Pada Dystrudepts Yang Diaplikasikan Biochar Tkks
ABSTRACT
Sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt.) is a horticultural commodity that has
high economic value due to its nutritional content and sweet taste. One of the
reasons for increasing sweet corn productivity is fertile agricultural land. Riau
Province, most of its agricultural land is marginal land such as Dystrudepts soil
which has limitations in its chemical properties, namely high acidity, low Corganic,
N-total and base saturation. The application of biochar EFB (Empty
Fruit Bunch) is thought to improve the quality of Dystrudepts soil. This study
aims to analyze the effect of biochar EFB on the chemical properties of
Dystrudepts soil, growth and production of sweet corn and get the best dose of
biochar EFB. The research was conducted from March 2024 to August 2024
using a completely randomized design with six biochar EFB treatments (0, 2.5, 5,
7.5, 10, and 12.5 t.ha-1 ) repeated four times. The parameters included plant
height, stem diameter, time to male flower emergence, time to female flowers
emergance and weight of cob per plot. The results showed that the application of
biochar EFB was able to improve soil chemical properties including pH, Corganic,
N-total, K-total, P-available and soil CEC. The application of biochar
EFB was significantly different on the age of male and female flowers, and cob
weight per plot. The application of biochar EFB also differed not significantly on
plant height and stem diameter. The best doses in accelerating the age of male and
female flower emergence were 5 t.ha-1 and 7.5 t.ha-1, while the best dose to
increase the weight of unhulled cob per plot was 2.5 t.ha-1
