ABSTRACT
Accidents are one of the problems that often occur on the highway, which can cause huge losses to society. Due to the large losses caused by accidents, special studies are needed in determining accident-prone locations and handling accidents in the future. In this study, a case was taken on the Kuok - Rantau Berangin road section. Secondary data in the form of completed reports obtained from Polres Kampar. While primary data in the form of direct surveys at accident-prone locations. The purpose of this research is to analyze the accident-prone location segment, identify the characteristics of traffic accidents, identify accident problems and evaluate and provide safety alternatives at the accident-prone location. The ranking analysis was conducted using 5 years of accident data using Accident Equivalent Number (AEK), Upper Control Limit (BKA) and Upper Control Limit (UCL). The results of the analysis of the 4 segments studied, there is one segment with the number of AEK greater than the BKA value and UCL value and identified as a traffic accident prone location is segment 4 at KM 73.8 - KM 75 in 2023 and two segments with the number of AEK greater than the UCL value but below the BKA value and identified as a traffic accident prone location is segment 1 at KM 69.5 - KM 71 in 2021 and 2022. Recommendations for handling in segment 1 are improvements to road pavement, improvements to street lights (PJU), improvements to warning signs and maintenance on road markings. Recommendations for handling in segment 4 are the addition of warning signs, pavement repairs, PJU repairs and maintenance on road markings.
