Skrining Bakteri Dan Jamur Penghasil Antibiotik Dari Usus Telescopium Telescopium Di Ekosistem Mangrove Dumai, Provinsi Riau
This study aims to screen and identify antibiotic-producing bacteria isolated from the intestines of Telescopium telescopium living in the Dumai mangrove ecosystem, Riau Province. The study was conducted from October to December 2024 at the Mangrove Forest Marine Station, University of Riau, Dumai. Bacterial isolation was carried out using Nutrient Agar media, then continued with antibacterial activity tests against pathogenic bacteria Aeromonas hydrophila, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus using the disc diffusion method. Three bacterial isolates were obtained from the isolation process, namely T1 and T2, which were suspected to come from the genus Bacillus, and T3, which was alleged to come from the genus Streptomyces. The test results showed that isolate T2b provided the largest inhibition zone against A. hydrophila at 24.05 mm, exceeding the positive control of oxytetracycline (23.15 mm). Activity against P. aeruginosa was relatively low, while isolate T1c showed the highest activity against S. aureus with an inhibition zone of 11.25 mm. These results indicate that bacteria from the intestines of T. telescopium have the potential to be a promising source of antibiotic compounds for further development in the treatment of pathogenic bacterial infections.
