Pra Rancangan Pabrik Ammonium Nitrat Proses Uhde Dengan Desain Alat Utama Prilling Tower (Pt-101)
ABSTRACT
Ammonium Nitrate is a chemical that is often used as an explosive for coal
mining, mineral mining, military explosives, and can also be used as fertilizer and
anesthetic. Ammonium nitrate is formed from the neutralization reaction of
ammonia and nitric acid by the UHDE process. Neutralization takes place in a
bubble reactor. The ammonium nitrate output from the reactor is flowed into an
evaporator to produce concentrated ammonium nitrate. The product then flows into
a cooler before entering the prilling tower. Ammonium nitrate prill is moved by belt
conveyor to coating drum to be coated with coating agent to prevent cracking. The
coated product is then put into silos and packed in packaging units. The plant will
operate for 330 days per year and work continuously for 24 hours with a capacity
of 65,000 tons/year. The plant will be established in Cikampek, West Java. The form
of company applied is Limited Liability Company (PT). The employee work system
is based on the division of working hours consisting of shift and non-shift
employees. The design of the main plant equipment designed is Prilling Tower (PT-
101) which functions to convert liquid ammonium nitrate solution produced from
the reaction between nitric acid (HNO₃) and ammonia (NH₃) into solid granules.
The economic analysis of the plant shows that the plant is feasible to establish. With
a Break Even Point (BEP) value of 44,83%, Payback Period (PBP) of 2,84 years,
Rate of Investment (ROI) of 24,96%, and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.76%.
