This study investigates the activities of sociology students within the Ikatan Mahasiswa Sosiologi (IMS) organization at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Science, Universitas Riau. It highlights a significant decline in student participation from 2021 to 2023, attributed to decreasing interest, lower attendance rates, and challenges in engagement. Employing a qualitative research methodology, the research explores the subjective experiences of active students and alumni involved in IMS. Key findings reveal that while students participate to enhance their soft skills and expand professional networks, financial constraints and time management issues significantly hinder their involvement. The study underscores the necessity for IMS to adopt innovative strategies to improve student engagement and participation, ensuring that organizational activities align more closely with students' academic and personal goals.
