Gambaran Kadar Prostate Specific Antigen Pada Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia Dengan Retensi Urin di RSUD Arifin Achmad Pekanbaru Periode Januari 2011- Desember 2015
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is an enlargement of the prostate gland caused by epitel and stroma proliferations. The enlargement of the prostate gland can cause the increase of serum Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA). The increase of PSA which is the characteristic of organ specific is a signal of a disease in prostate. PSA can increase caused by prostate inflammation, prostate manipulation, prostate malignancy, the increase of age, acute urinary retention because of prostate enlargement, and urine catheterization. This study aims at knowing the description of PSA value in BPH with urinary retention in Regional Hospital Arifin Achmad Pekanbaru within period January 2011 until December 2015. This research used descriptive study. There are 42 cases fulfil the inclusion criteria. The result showed BPH cases occurred mostly at average age 60-69 years old which is 21 (50%) patients with average age 64.29 years. The most BPH patients with urinary retention who carried out PSA examination is on value range 4.1-10 ng/ml were 19 (45.2%) patients with average PSA value is 13.1 ng/ml. The size of prostate volume of BPH patients with most urinary retention is on range 40-49 ml (45.2%) with average prostate volume is 41.25 ml. Based on the Spearman test, it was found 0,021 significance value showed that there was correlation between PSA value and prostate volume because the p value is < 0,05.
