This study aims to determine the role of parent to hold the child's education, the role of parents to covered children's learning facilities, and expectations of parents for the future of children's education in poor fishing families in Bagan Punak Pesisir Village.

This study uses qualitative research to illustrate the condition of social phenomena from the angle or perspective of the research’s object. Location studies at RT 07, 08 and 09 Hamlet of Mawar which it numbered 45 families. This data was obtained from statistical of Bagan Punak Pesisir Village. Total sample is determined by sampling that took up the entire population of poor fisherman communities who have child attending education in formal school.

Based on the results of research, argued conclusion that fisherman communities in of Bagan Punak Pesisir Village of Bangko district had a good response to the children’s formal education, parents trying to finance the formal education of children with hope parents can send their children to higher level education in the future so that children will be able to have a decent life.
