The study was conducted in September 2016, located in Shelter (TPA) Muara Fajar Pekanbaru. The aim of research to analyze the socio-economic life of scavengers including opening job opportunities and business opportunities, perception of scavengers about health and to analyze the contribution of scavengers in improving the environmental quality of the TPA. The results of the study are explain largely scavengers get income above UMK Pekanbaru Year 2016. The role of scavenger in improving the local economy can be seen from the opening of business opportunities as collecting agents, seller of food and drinks, making pig farms and open employment opportunities as workers in the collecting agent. The job as scavengers at TPA risk of declining health, because it works on a environmental dirty potential to affected of various disease virus. However on average scavengers can picking up rubbish until 129.5 Kg/ day, so the contribution of 6.7% of the amount of waste that goes to TPA Muara Fajar Pekanbaru.
