Pemanfaatan Mangrove Oleh Masyarakat Adat Terpencil (Suku Akit) Desa Jangkang Kabupaten Bengkalis

This study was conducted in May 2014 to April 2015 in Jangkang village Bengkalis regency. The study aims to analyze people’s behavior of Akit Tribe and to analyze social economic conditions of mangrove forest utilizationin in Jangkang village Bengkalis regency. The method used in this study is survey method with qualitative analysis approach by describing phenomenon in field. Primary data was collected through observation and interviews, while secondary data obtained from relevant agencies. The results of this study is show that in general people's behavior of Akit tribe still based on hereditarysocial culture in utilization of mangrove forest in Jangkang village. While from the economic aspects of Akit Tribe is utilizing mangrove wood as a raw material of wood charcoal. Charcoal Panglong as an industry to produce charcoal wood, capable of producing an average of charcoal wood as much as 20,800 kg/15 days of the 17 units charcoal panglong in Jangkang village as well as generating people’s income of Akit Tribe around Rp 1.800.000, - up to Rp 2,250. 000, - each month for mangrove logger as well as around Rp 800.000,- up to Rp 1.000.000,- each month. The need for a strategy for the development and utilization of mangrove forests by Akit Tribe in Jangkang village Bengkalis, so as to improve a better and more sustainable living standards of the people.
