Strategi Pengembangan Ekowisata Mangrove di Kecamatan Sungai Apit Kabupaten Siak

Tourism industry plays an important role in the country’s development. In addition, tourism also has an influence on the revenue for local government. Siak is one of the areas in Riau Province which has variety tourist attractions. One of tourist attractions is Mangrove Ecotourism in the District of Sungai Apit. Mangrove Ecotourism has enormous potential to develop. Therefore, a developmental strategy is needed in order to develop and increase the interest of tourists to visit Mangrove Ecotourism.

Theory are used in this research is management strategy, particular the story of Elitan and Anatan. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and The data were collected through interviews, observations and documentations. The technique of data analysis which used in this research was qualitative method and descriptive approachment and processed by using SWOT analysis.

The result of this research shows that the development strategies of Mangrove Ecotourism in the District Sungai Apit have been done but not optimal since it dominated by local people. Based on the results of the SWOT analysis obtained five strategic priorities for development of Mangrove Ecotourism in the District Sungai Apit include: a). Coordination between the local community and stakeholders with socialization, planning, implementation and monitoring of mangrove ecotourism development concept; b). Relocation for ecotourism activities, improvement of infrastructures, clean water, development of facilities and basic facilities, waste treatment and disposal systems, as well as the business unit which supporting the tourists needs; c). Providing knowledge to the community about the effective and productive managements of mangrove ecotourism; d). Any analysis studies on the impact of tourism activities toward the environmental conditions and the growth of mangrove vegetation with periodic and continuous monitoring; and e). Explore the potential of nature and marine tourism with coaching the community.
