Pengaruh Akupresur Terhadap Produksi Air Susu Ibu (Asi)
Insufficient breast milk production interfere breastfeeding process. Acupressure is an
alternative therapy to increase milk production. The pressures influence hormone prolactin
stimulation process. The aim of this research was to determine the influence of acupressure on
breast milk production. This research used quasi experiment research method with nonrandomized
control group pretest-posttest design. This research was conducted in Harapan
Raya Pekanbaru Health Center (PUSKESMAS). The sampling used was purposive sampling
with 34 respondents, divided into experimental and control group. The experimental group
was given an acupressure for 3 days, 2 sessions were done in 15 minutes in one day. This
research used an observation sheet consisting of indicators of breast milk production to see
breast milk production. The result of the research that mother’s aged between 20-35 years
(88.2%), most of them was a high school graduate (47.1%), while an even percentage was
found between employed and unemployed (50.0%). The results of Mann-Whitney test showed
p value 0,000 < α (0,05), it means there was an influence of acupressure on breast milk
production. The Wilcoxon test on the experimental group showed p value < α (0,05), in
control group showed p value > α (0,05), it means an acupressure could increase breast milk
production for 3.00 points. Based on this research acupressure at the ST 15, ST 16 and LI 4
point is highly recommended for mothers to increase breast milk production.
