This Study aims to determined the effect of empowering the poor family through Progrm Keluarga Harapan on improving the public welfare. Indonesia, as developing contry strive to improve social welfare to achieve Indonesian State which free,united, soverign, just and prosperous. In order to reduce the extremly poverty in Indonesia, the Government established social service program that is Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH). The implementation of Pogram Keluarga Harapan conducted in all of district in Pekanbaru,especially Tenayan Raya as the highest family poverty sub-district in Pekanbaru. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative research method. The sample collection technique utilize the slovin formula with 100 respondents.
The conclusion of this study is the implementation of Program Keluarga Harapan has a good impact on poor family walfare. However, there is still needs some improvement on the implementation, especially the role of social assistants in fostering PKH recipients at group meetings. So that that the empowerment of PKH can be achieved in every aspect especially education, public health and family socio-economic facilities.
