ABSTRACT
PT. Wilmar Nabati Indonesia is a company engaged in the processing of the CPO
(Crude Palm Oil) as a raw material is processed into oils olein and stearin through
the refinery and fractionation process. Study have been done to analysis of water
and free fatty acid content in the sample of oil CPO before the refinery and
fractionation process. Analysis of water content and free fatty acid content aims to
determine the quality of the oil before refining and fractionation processes based
on the specifications set by PT. Wilmar Nabati Indonesia. Analysis of water
content have been done by means of heating using an oven with a temperature of
130oC and analysis of free fatty acid content by titration using a standard solution
of NaOH. From the analysis that has been done of water content in the sample of
oil CPO based on a sample in front of mainhole the top, middle and bottom as
well as samples on mainhole behind the top, middle and bottom row is 0.3483%,
0.1100%, 0.1487%, 0.2050%, 0.1615% and 0.1484%. While the levels of free
fatty acids content in the sample of oil CPO based on a sample in front of
mainhole the top, middle and bottom as well as samples on mainhole behind the
top, middle and bottom row is 3.8273%, 4.4644%, 4.3043%, 3.6631%, 3.7857%
and 4.0751%. The results of the analysis have met of the specifications, namely
the maximum of water content in the sample of oil CPO before the refinery is
˂ 0.5% and the maximum levels of free fatty acids is ˂ 5%. So, can be concluded
the quality of the CPO is good and ready to be processed into oils olein and
stearin through the refinery and fractionation process.
