Penerapan Sistem Zonasi Pada SMA Negeri 8 Pekanbaru
Based on Permendikbud Number 14 of 2018 New Student Admission (PPDB) in State High Schools implementing a zoning system, this system changes the pattern of student admissions that have been using the ranking system based on the National Examination Score (NUN), being obliged to accept prospective students who domiciled in the nearest zone radius of the school at least 90 percent of the total number of students received and only 1 choice of state high school according to the zone of residence of students. These changes are reaping the pros and cons of the community and also affect student achievement in school, especially in SMAN 8 Pekanbaru.
This study aims to analyze how the community's response and the consequences caused by the application of the zoning system for New Student Reception (PPDB), especially at SMAN 8 Pekanbaru.
The results of the study show that the public opinion is divided into two parts that support the reasons that the purpose of this zoning system is equity and justice in accessing education services, while those who do not support state that the government is not ready to implement the zoning system because of the standardization of the quality and quality of state high schools in Pekanbaru has not been evenly distributed, for that there are a number of things that the government must have addressed in order to successfully implement the zoning system going forward.
