Patogenitas Beauveria Bassiana Vuill Pada Kompos Terhadap Larva Oryctes Rhinoceros L. Hama Kelapa Sawit
The Oryctes rhinoceros pest is an important pest of oil palm. Pest problems occur because Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunches (OPEFB) was added for soil fertility create to a breeding site for larvae O. rhinoceros. Generally, will receive the plants more quickly when composted, and pest control is carried out in the compost. Biological control is more recommended because it is environmentally friendly. Therefore, in OPEFB a biological agent controlling O. rhinoceros is added in compost, namely Beauveria bassiana. This study is aimed to obtain the best ability of several compost organic materials containing B. bassiana for controlling larvae O. rhinoceros, to obtain the ability of B. bassiana in compost to control various instars of larvae O. rhinoceros and to obtain the best concentration of B.bassiana in compost in controlling larvae O. rhinoceros.
The research was carried out at the Plant Pest Laboratory and Experimental Garden Laboratory, Science Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University. The study was carried out from February to November 2020. The study consisted of 3 experiments, namely: 1) testing of several compost organic materials containing B. bassiana, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with 7 treatments 5 replications which obtained 35 units in the experiment, the treatments of compost organic materials were OPEFB, sawdust, rice husks, OPEFB + sawdust, OPEFB + rice husks, sawdust + rice husks, and rice husks + sawdust + EFB. Experiment 2 included: the test on the ability of B. bassiana of compost at various instars of larvae O. rhinoceros, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with 3 treatments 4 replications which obtained 12 experimental units, while the treatment was 1st instar larvae, 2 nd instar and 3 rd. Experiment 3 included: concentration test of B. bassiana fungi in compost media against larvae O. rhinoceros, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with 6 treatments 4 replications which obtained 24 experimental units, while the treatments were 0 g.l-1, 15 g.l-1, 30 g.l-1, 45 g.l-1, 60 g.l-1 and 75 g.l-1.
The results of the research revealed that compost organic material contains the fungus B. bassiana which has the best ability to control O. rhinoceros, namely OPEFB + sawdust causing total mortality to reach 90% with conidia number 11,52 x109 kon/ml, initial death 67,2 hours after application, lethal time 50 206, 4 hours after application. B. bassiana fungi in OPEFB + sawdust compost have the same infectious abilities to control O. rhinoceros 2 and 3 instar larvae with total mortality of up to 87,5% and 92,5%, to control 1, 2 and 3 instars larvae of O. rhinoceros and have no effect on the initial time of death and lethal time 50 on each instar. OPEFB compost + sawdust containing the fungus B. bassiana 75 g.l-1 had the best ability to control larvae O. rhinoceros with a total larvae mortality of 87% which caused early death of 54 hours after application, 50 lethal times of 213 hours after application, and LC50 of 3,3% or the equivalent of 33 g.l-1.
