Analisis Semiotika Sosial Mak Halliday Pemberitaan Kontroversi Kafir Bagi Non Muslim Indonesia Di Media Online Kompas.Com Dan Republika.Co.Id
The decision of the Nahdhatul Ulama National Conference (NU National Conference) not to mention infidels to Non Muslim Indonesians became a debate in the wider community. This decision sparked pros and cons from various groups, from politicians, historians to ordinary people. The media generously reported on the controversy over the redefinition of infidel from the results of the NU National Conference. Kompas.com and Republika.co.id are among the media reporting controversy over the redefinition of infidels. By using the theory of MAK Halliday's Social Semiotic Analysis, which is a theory that interprets language through the text seen from the context of the situation in which the text is in shape. Then we will get the meaning contained in the news text to how Kompas.com and Republika.co.id interpret the issue of redefinition of infidels by reporting the infidel controversy to Non Muslim Indonesians.
The research method used is a qualitative approach by describing the data descriptively. To analyze the data, the researcher used MAK Halliday's Semiotic Social Analysis with a 3 component analysis model, namely the field of discourse, tenor of discourse, and mode of discourse. Analyzing each unit of analysis, namely coverage of infidels controversy from March 1 to 7 2019. So that the purpose of this study is to determine the discourse field, discourse involvement and discourse facilities of the analyzed news. Data collection techniques in this study used research techniques, documentation and interviews. The results and discussion of this study based on the Social Semiotic Analysis on the news in the media Kompas.com and Republika.co.id show that Kompas.com tends to be more pro towards the issue of infidel redefinition while Republika.co.id tends to be neutral and opens up space for dialogue to the pros and cons.
