ABSTRACT
Drugs is one of the big problems to date, both in big cities and even in villages.
Riau is one of the cities caught in drug cases. Throughout 2019, Riau handled
1,817 drug cases with 2,496 as suspects (Sitinjak, 2019). Pekanbaru was not
spared from drug cases given several cases that have occurred in Pekanbaru.
Victims of drug abuse experience physical and psychological disorders that can
injure themselves and those around them so that they need a container in the
process of mental recovery as well as the morale of victims of drug abuse. Lack of
adequate facilities is also a reason in the design of drug rehabilitation centers in
Pekanbaru. One of the causes of human being trapped into the drug environment
is the lack of faith and devotion to God Almighty, so the need for a container of
recovery that is able to get closer to the creator, therefore the design of drug
rehabilitation centers in Pekanbaru using the approach of Islamic architecture as
a theme and reference in design. Islamic architecture is applied to the design of
Islamic architectural principles that connect humans, God and nature of His
creation. The application of Islamic architecture in drug rehabilitation buildings
is found in the design of building masses, building interiors and landscaping as
well as the color and material elements used in the design in accordance with the
needs of the rehabilitation process.
