Perancangan Agriculture Research And Development Center Di Kabupaten Lingga Dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Organik

Lingga Regency is a regency located in Riau Islands Province consisting of
377 islands large and small, 285 of which are uninhabited which are divided into
10 sub-districts, 7 villages, and 82 villages, with a population of 89,501 people
(BPS Lingga Regency, 2018). The geographical condition of Lingga Regency
surrounded by the sea and access to the hard-to-reach Lingga Regency makes
Lingga Regency very far to achieve food security. A region is able to meet its food
security if it has the availability of foodstuffs, ease of access to foodstuffs, and the
utilization of good foodstuffs and the stability of food availability for the future or
sustainability, especially for basic food supplies. Currently, the supply of
agricultural foodstuffs in Lingga Regency is mostly obtained from other regions.
Along with population growth, this condition will cause considerable problems.
Therefore, in anticipation of this problem Lingga Regency began to build the
agricultural sector. To support and facilitate this, it is necessary Agriculture
Research and Deveplopment Center in Lingga Regency which will be a forum for
research and development center in the integrated agricultural sector as well as a
prototype and education for the community, especially farmers about integrated
agricultural systems. In agriculture research and deveplopment center is planned
there is a research center, development, laboratory, post-harvest management,
garden area and pilot rice field as well as areas of calming and aquaculture
freshwater fish. The design of the Agriculture Research and Deveplopment Center
uses an organic architectural approach that basically has a concept rooted in the
shape and principles of nature and pays attention to the environment and harmony
with its footprint. This approach is chosen in order to create a building that blends
with the landscape so as to remove the boundary between landscape and building
that refers to the function of development, research, education, and recreation in the
field of agriculture and create the convenience of interaction for individuals in it.
