Pembuatan Dan Karakterisasi Elektroda Karbon Berbahan Daun Ketapang (Terminalia Catappa L) Untuk Superkapasitor
Utilization of ketapang leaf (Terminalia Catappa L) waste as a supercapacitor
electrode has been successfully carried out with variation concentration of ZnCl2
activator, namely 0,3 M, 0,5 M and 0,7 M. Carbon production was started from
drying the ketapang leaves in the sun ray and a 110°C oven, pre-carbonization,
ball-milling and mortar, sieving, chemical activation, molding, carbonization and
physical activation. The carbonization temperature used was 700 °C with N2 gas
absorption. Physical activation was done at a temperature of 850 °C. Results were
obtained through several characterizations such as the density, the largest decrease
in the value of the concentration 0,5 M sample was 30%. X-Ray Diffraction
(XRD) characterization has a peak with an angle range of 23,057° - 23,541° and
42,811°-43,86°. The electrochemical properties of supercapacitor carbon
electrodes was studied using Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) and Galvanostatic Charge
Discharge (GCD). The supercapacitor cells have the highest specific capacitance
value in the DK 0,5 sample of 144,29 F/g. Ketapang leaves are suitable to be used
as supercapacitor carbon electrodes, especially using 0,5 M ZnCl2 activator.
Keywords: ketapang leaf, supercapacitors, carbon electrodes, specific
