Karakteristik Morfologi Belangkas Mangrove (Carcinoscorpius Rotundicauda) Di Pantai Utara Pulau Rangsang, Riau
Mangrove horseshoe crab (Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda) is a type that spread in
several Asian countries that has morphological variations. The study aimed to
compare the morphological character of male and female C. rotundicauda, compare
the morphometric character of male C. rotundicauda between five stations, and
compare female morphometric characters between five stations. Sampling was
conducted from March to June 2021 on the north coast of Rangsang Island.
Observations of 40 morphometric characters, two meristic characters and colors
were made on male and female C. rotundicauda (n=15 each) following the modified
Meilana et al. (2015). C. rotundicauda is predominantly dark grayish brown.
Individual C. rotundicauda males are smaller in size, have relatively similarly long
marginal spines, capit pedipalpus and the first foot of the road is larger and rather
round, the telsonnya thicker. The female C. rotundicauda individual has the
opposite characteristic. The morphometric characters of C. rotundicauda males and
females between stations will be presented in full and discussed in detail.
