Redesain Taman Budaya Provinsi Riau Dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Simbiosis

ABSTRACT
Riau Province has a thick Malay culture and become a characteristic of
Riau Province. In the city of Pekanbaru, there is a container that serves as a
means for the community to develop art and preserve the Riau Malay culture,
namely the Riau Province Cultural Park. Taman Budaya is located on Jalan
Sudirman and has been around for a long time with the condition of the building
now starting to age. Existing facilities are not in accordance with the current user
activities. This causes the need for improvements and adjustments to the functions
required today. The redesign of the cultural park was carried out to improve the
quality of the Riau Province Cultural Park as a Malay Cultural Center. The
redesign uses a symbiotic architectural approachas an effort to bring out new and
modern elements to adapt to the times while still bringing out traditional Malay
elements. Symbiotic architecture is an approach where two different elements are
united in one entity, each entity has its own characteristics. The concept used is
symbiosis from the past to the future as well as cultural and modern symbiosis.
This concept takes symbols from Malay cultural elements with modern elements
so as to increase the value of Taman Budaya without losing the Malay cultural
identity.
