Potensi Penggunaan Serat Tebu Sebagai Substitusi Serat Selulosa Pada Campuran Stone Matrix Asphalt
Stone Matrix Asphalt use a gap-graded aggregate gradation that requires a large amount of binder. This high level of binder makes SMA mixtures susceptible to the flow of binder out of the mixture or commonly called a draindown event. The commonly used stabilizer is Viatop66. Synthetic cellulose fiber has the drawback that obtaining it is difficult and the price is high due to importing from abroad, so an alternative is needed in the form of natural cellulose fiber which has similar characteristics to synthetic cellulose fiber. Sugarcane bagasse (Baggase) has a high cellulose fiber content, which is around 45% - 50% of the total weight, which makes it a potential replacement for Viatop66. This study aims to know the ability of mixtures with baggase to prevent draindown compared to Viatop66, and how the marshall characteristics of mixtures produced using baggase as a stabilizer. The fibers used were first purified by the delignification process and grinded by machine, then used in the mixture for Draindown testing and Marshall testing. The results obtained showed that the mixture with sugarcane fiber was able to resist draindown, with a value close to that of the Viatop66 mixture. Draindown without sugarcane fiber was found to be 3.208%, for 0.1% sugarcane fiber content was found to be 0.177%, for 0.2% content was found to be 0.148%, for 0.3% content was found to be 0.135% and for 0.4% content was found to be 0.013%. Of the 5 variations of mixtures with asphalt content of 5.5%, 6%, 6.5%, 7% and 7.5%, the mixture with 6% and 6.5% asphalt content and 0.3% sugarcane fiber has a performance that meets Bina Marga Specifications. Stability values for 6% and 6.5% were found to be 509.16 kg and 492.7 kg, Flow of 3.67 mm and 3.83 mm, VMA of 17.27% and 18.379%, VIM of 3.478% and 3.562%, and VFA of 79.962% and 80.676%.
