Penentuan Waktu Dan Suhu Optimum Terhadap Fiber Morphology, Tensile Strength Dan Nilai Brightness Kraft Pulp Di Tahapan Da Proses Bleaching Pada Continous Digester
ABSTRACT
The DA stage is an important stage in the process of increasing brightness because the DA stage is a delignification stage to damage and separate the remaining lignin structure in the pulp. This study aims to determine the effect of temperature and time on brightness, fiber morphology and tensile strength. In this study, the DA bleaching process was carried out using chlorine dioxide (ClO2) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4) chemicals by varying the temperature of 60 ℃, 70 ℃, 80 ℃, 90 ℃ and the time of 70, 80, 90, 100, 120 minutes. From the research results, the optimum and stable brightness value was obtained at a time of 90 minutes and a temperature of 60 ° C, resulting in a brightness of 74.31% ISO. In fiber morphology, the length value was obtained in the range of 0.810 - 0.820 mm, fines in the range of 14.0 - 14.6% and fiber population in the range of 27,892 - 29,920 pcs/mg. In tensile strength, the highest value was obtained, which was 31.23 N/m. The values obtained from each parameter show results that exceed the DA outlet sample, so that the bleaching process carried out can be declared effective without damaging the fiber structure excessively. The optimal temperature and time can increase the brightness of the pulp without damaging the fiber structure. However, if too high or too long, it can cause fiber degradation, an increase in fines, and a decrease in tensile strength, affecting the overall pulp quality.
